It was another strong Major performance from Bob MacIntyre at the US PGA Championship at Valhalla in Kentucky.
With rounds of 66-69-66-70, Bob finished in a tie for 8th place, and further enhanced his record and reputation in the Major Championships.
Starting round 4 just behind the leaders, Bob was very much in the mix, however, he was not able to catch Xander Schauffele, who won his first Major with a birdie on the last to defeat Bryson DeChambeau. Bob's eagle on the final hole, which gave him another top 10 finish, does, however, also guarantee his place in next year’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
Speaking after his final round, Bob said: “I’m really pleased with how the week went, and also to have been right up there competing to win a Major Championship. I just didn’t get too many chances to score today, but the eagle on the last was important on many levels, aside from completing what was a very good week for me.”
The result moves Bob up to 75 on the OWGR, and also moves him into the top 75 on the FedEx Cup rankings.
With 2 more Major Championships still to play this year, in addition to a return home for the Genesis Scottish Open in July, Bob has put himself in a very good position for a strong finish in the FedEx Cup in what is his first full season on the PGA Tour.
