Stephen Gallacher recognised in King’s Birthday Honours list

Stephen Gallacher was today recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list, when he was awarded an MBE for services to golf.

Stephen’s professional career spans almost 30 years, and this Honour reflects his considerable achievements over this time.

A 4-time winner on the DP World Tour, Stephen notably won back-to-back victories in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in 2013 & 2014, and then won the Hero Indian Open in 2019 with his son, Jack, as his caddie.

In 2014, he was a member of the victorious European Ryder Cup team at Gleneagles, and also reached a career-high world ranking of 31.

Whilst still competing on the DP World Tour, where he has competed in over 650 events, Stephen was also the Junior Ryder Cup Captain in Rome last year, where he led Europe to a stunning win over the USA.

Off the course, Stephen has made significant contributions to the sport, and very specifically to boys and girls, through his eponymous Foundation. The Stephen Gallacher Foundation encourages children in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders to take up the game, and then, through coaching and education to develop and enjoy the sport to whatever level they can achieve. Many thousands of children have benefited from coaching in local schools and golf clubs, and from playing in competitive events across Scotland. This legacy will ensure that others receive the same opportunities and support that Stephen received as a young boy.

This Honour is hugely well-deserved, and recognition of the hard work, determination and success that Stephen has achieved in the world of golf.
